Name your game!

Making a movie trailer? Let the genre guide you.  Look at the mash up option with storytelling in the forefront.  Also don't be shy to “Tri-Mash” this year.  Yes!!! We said “Tri- Mash”!!!!  We’ve opened up the mash up guidelines to allow selecting up to 3 movies to mash together into one awesome trailer. That's a trailer using any genre on the list other than the movies you're using for footage.   For example…

  • If film selection and genre was listed in assignment as….

    “Jaws” - Natural Horror Film

    “My Fair Lady” - Musical

    “Cars” - Sports Comedy Film

  • New Tri Mash title and genre (from assignment list) could be….

“Lady In a Car with Sharks”  -  Alternative History

  • Genre is from the assignment list, but cannot be the same as any of the selection films (Jaws/My Fair Lady/Cars)

Got an ear for sound design?  Seek out your soundscape scene carefully.  Analyze how different sounds affect the overall mood and atmosphere.  You want to enhance the story or emotion of a scene yet make it nothing like the original.  All submissions will require you to include the original scene lifted from the movie for judges to reference.

Taking on the graphics challenge?  We dare you because so few usually do.  Every year these entries are awe inspiring!

WAIT ONE MINUTE!!!!  There's one more!

Introducing the brand new category for music.  Are you a musician or composer wanting to be heard?  We have supplied a list of thoughtfully selected movies where you pick a 90 sec scene that never had music and give it an original score.  Whether you're at a sound or music company, edit or graphic house this exercise is sure to excite you.  We want your scores to enhance the original scene and invoke emotion in line with the original movie on this one.  We can't wait to hear what you come up with.

We also want to remind you that there is no one “right” way to do things. You can get creative and come up with unique solutions to problems. After all, that’s what filmmaking is all about! Finally, we want you to remember to have fun and enjoy the process.

Camp K Counselors are standing by for any support and mentoring.  Be it choosing which exercise to do, or the final touches.

We can’t wait to see what you create! Happy Filmmaking!
