Camp Kuleshov : A Post Challenge for Emerging Creatives
“Rising Lights Tell Tales”
Camp Kuleshov is a creative competition for rising talent designed to heighten your skills in various post production crafts, including editing, sound, and graphics. If you're just starting out, have been apprenticing for some time, or feel you are at the moment of breaking through to that next level, show us what you got. This exercise will broaden your creative skills, give you a moment to be seen throughout the industry, and offer you invaluable mentorship to last beyond the competition. Top industry Editors, Audio Mixers and Graphic artists are signed up to judge and coach. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be handed out in each region and everyone who enters will walk away with a passion piece that showcases your creativity.
If you ace your local competition you will have a chance at the Lev award where you will be seen on a national level through the annual AICP Show.
Campers, Don’t be afraid to get into the grit.
“Passion and sustained persistence applied toward long term achievement, with no particular concern for rewards, defines grit” - Author Angela Duckworth
You’ve either watched all our assigned movies, knew immediately what to choose, or became totally overwhelmed and put it in your smelly foot locker. Hey, you're not alone, but as for choosing to accept the challenge, reach out to your counselors who are here to help you prepare if you need to muster. This is not Camp Green Lake where you're forced to dig holes all day. If anything, embrace your troop and the opportunity, and make it fun. There's still time to turn this canoe around, and find a nice steady stroke to the finish line.
“That’s my advice for dealing with writer's block: follow the fun. If you aren’t having fun, you are doing it wrong.” - Jordan Peele
You can think you know a movie so well it will be easy, but sometimes you need to know the genre better to really hit the tent post on the head. That goes for graphics as well, although that specific assignment is to keep with the movie's original genre. Sound can literally break all the barriers, and become anything other than the original. Don’t look for easy things, challenge yourself and you will make the greatest progress. Watch, read, listen, and be inspired. It was Wayne W. Dyer who said “Imagination is the greatest gift you’ve been given.”
“Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere” - Albert Einstein
